“In Europe we thought of wine as something as healthy and normal as food and also a great giver of happiness and well being and delight. Drinking wine was not a snobbism nor a sign of sophistication nor a cult; it was as natural as eating and to me as necessary.”

- Ernest Hemingway

CHEESE

At Miles Market we follow the philosophy: "We shop the world for you".

CHEESE LIST

Our list of cheeses is grouped by country of origin and where there is a link, further information can be found, such as information about how the cheese is made, its history, tips for pairing with wine and recipes featuring that cheese. We encourage you to send us your input as well and we would be glad to include it. Click here to download our Cheese List.

Miles has the largest selection of cheeses in Bermuda from around the World. We pride ourselves in bringing in quality and variety, pasteurized and non-pasteurized. If you have a question about a specific cheese or would like to bring one in, Patrick is the expert:

CHEESE PRODUCTION

Cheese production has been in existence for many thousands of years, starting from the time man discovered that his domesticated cows could be milked. It is likely that the first cheeses were sour milk cheeses. Milk left alone naturally sours and then curdles. As it curdles it separates, producing thicker curds and milkier whey. By pouring off the thickened curds, a type of fresh acid curd type cheese materialised, spawning a whole new dairy product. Cheese production has become varied throughout the world, depending on climate, soil, altitude, vegetation and also the development of the region and it’s economic status.

MILES FARMS

We have strict quality standards and only the freshest products are chosen when they are in season and at their best. The fields have been organically tended by using manure and green fertilisers. Miles Farms pick daily to make sure that you have the freshest and tastiest produce. We also have a selection of cooking and medicinal herbs.

Each package displays the Miles Farms Logo so that you know exactly where the product was grown. Where we can, we bunch products to reduce the need for packaging; however, when packaging is required we carefully consider sustainability and recycle ability.

Nature’s Bounty: Did you know?

Bermuda used to have a vibrant Farming Industry and actually regularly exported fruits, vegetables and flowers to North America. But now the famous Bermuda Onion can only be found here at home. The North American "Bermuda Onion" actually comes from Bermuda, Texas!
